Installing Seawalls in Surfside

Seawalls can be more complicated than one might think. Each panel must be buried a minimum of 40-45% of the seawall bed. Seawalls are not inserted by hammering, but are placed by stirring up the canal bed.

To keep the seawall off the landward side, we place deadman anchors every 10 feet. The anchors are inserted about 15 feet down into the below the surface. Otherwise prone to rust, these deadman anchors need to be made from epoxy-coated steel rebar. They are also covered with a poly pipe sleeves. The concrete cap of the sea-wall is finished by sealing the end of the rebar that is attached to the seawall cap.

On most of our jobs, we pour our seawall caps on-site and then tie the various components together. Texas Seawall Services often adds extra structural skeletal support to its seawall cap by employing custom-made-stirrup-shaped epoxy-coated rebar.
